On the surface, 'Addition' is an entertaining comedy about paying a bill. But on a deeper level, it’s a poignant examination of three lifelong friendships. When Axel invites Jules and Antoine out to dinner in a restaurant, he doesn't expect a harmless meal to turn into a catalyst for questioning the very foundations of their friendships. See, after offering to foot the bill, Axel regrets his decision in the morning and asks his two mates to reimburse him their fair shares. Antoine duly gets out his chequebook whilst Jules, however, flies off the handle...
