Afternoon Colorado River Rafting

This is a great trip for families, and for those accustomed to white water. The scenery of this half day expedition is unforgettable with spectacular scenery and splashy cool rapids.

You will be driven 19 miles up river from Moab along scenic route 128. You will meet your guides and rafts after traveling past beautiful high walled red rock canyons and into Professor Valley. You will set out on the water after a brief safety orientation.

The afternoon's expedition includes photogenic vistas of Professor Valley. This valley is the location of many films including John Wayne's western movies "Fort Apache" and "Rio Grand" and more recently, "City Slickers II" and "Larger than Life". Slightly downstream, you will stop for a picnic on the shore, where the guides will prepare a delicious lunch. Afterwards, you will move into the faster moving water where the largest rapid challenges the expert guide's skill to provide fun and excitement for all.

Towering canyon walls rise up on both sides of the sun-dappled river. Your naturalist guide will recount fascinating and humorous stories, entertaining you with history, geology, plant and animal lore, sharing their knowledge, enthusiasm and a sense of play. The schedule is leisurely and there is time for swimming (life jackets remain on), water fights between rafts. This is a perfect way to spend the afternoon.
