Bavarian Mountains and Salt-Mines Tour from Salzburg

Something very different awaits you, should you decide to visit the Saltmines. Travel along the Konigseeache Valley, through the Bavarian Mountains, past romantic farmhouses and the ruins of Obersalzberg - Hitler's former mountain retreat. The highlight of the journey will be the 450 year old Saltmines.

The Romantic Bavarian Alps will thrill you! The journey takes us via the Alpenstrasse to where you travel parallel to the King's Lake river to the Obersalzberg. Here the once rulers of the Third Reich had their residence, although there is very little left to see except where the road, leading up to the famous Eagle's Nest starts (Hitler's former Conference Center).
The highlight of your tour still awaits as you then tour the over 450 year old Salt Mines. Wearing traditional miners' clothes, you enter the mines and hear historical as well as legendary tales of the fascinating underground world. Using the same slides as hundreds of miners before, you descend to the grottos, the magical world beneath the surface of the earth. You end your adventure with a raft sail on the salt lake and a special train trip.

The tour will both amaze and educate you into this underground world, great fun for all ages! Afterwards there will be a short visit to the town of Berchtesgaden before returning to Salzburg.
