Adventure Tour

Moab, Utah

Starting from USD $74.00 per person

Take time out of your busy schedule for an exhilarating jetboat ride down the Colorado River. Be enchanted by the wild native animals, sheer mountain walls and ancient wall carvings. Your friendly guide will captivate you with tales of history, archaeology and geology. Watch the sun sparkling on the water as you enjoy the magnificent scenery and the silence of the wilderness

There are no rapids on these expeditions! Jetboats are strong aluminum boats holding from 8 to 28 guests. They skim along the flat water (only) portions of the Colorado River at an average cruising speed of 20 miles per hour, and they stop frequently to drift gently along the current as your guide talks. Guests find the ride to be a sheer delight!

Frequent stops allow opportunities for photography, and binoculars are also fun to have. This is a fine narrative and interpretative trip for the person with limited time. You will talk, get out of the boat and go on walks, and then power both down and up river. The area visited on these expeditions is accessible only by river.

You will take a scenic byway along the Colorado River corridor stopping to see a prehistoric Indian writing panel (petroglyphs - ancient pictures and symbols pecked on the sheer sandstone walls of the canyon). Your naturalist-guide is knowledgeable in a variety of interpretive subjects: geology, archaeology, history, plants and animals and ecology, and can add immeasurably to the enjoyment of your river experience.

At the Potash boat ramp, you will begin your journey on the river. High red sandstone canyon walls form the scenic landscape where watchful eyes can occasionally spot eagles, bighorn sheep and deer. Prehistoric scenic Indian ruins from the Anasazi culture can be seen, and if the river level permits, you will take a short hike to a petrified forest near the river view of Dead Horse Point. Here, the canyon walls rise a towering 1500 feet above your head. The riparian zone and Jurassic rock dominate the landscape.

Throughout the expedition, there is time to talk, to watch the sun sparkling on the water and enjoy the magnificent scenery, and the silence of the wilderness.
