Traveling from Skagway to the Yukon, you will see the beautiful Skagway River Valley, White Pass Summit Area, Tormented Valley and the crystal clear watershed of the Yukon River. The Carcross Desert, the world's smallest desert, and the spectacular Caribbean colors of Emerald Lake just north of Carcross, Yukon Territory.

At the Emerald Lake Trail Camp you will meet your lead horseback guide, Joni MacKinnon. Born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon, Joni graduated from Capilano College with a degree in Outdoor Recreation Management, and she has been a licensed hunting, fishing, horseback and wildlife photography tour guide for nearly 30 years.

After saddling up, ride over high country trails as Joni relates the hardships the "Cheechakos", or newcomers, had to face in the Yukon. Along the way scan the sides of Caribou Mountain, Gray Ridge and the Watson River Valley for sheep, moose, caribou, and bear.
