Hear about it from a local guide, and learn about the Catholic Church’s influence on Rome. The fun 3-hour experience includes sights of some of the city’s most interesting churches, Castel Sant’Angelo and, of course, iconic St Peter’s Basilica.
Start at Piazza del Gesù and get to grips with your Segway, an electric self-balancing scooter. After a practice session, you’ll cruise behind your guide in the direction of Vatican City. Listen to your guide as you go to learn about Rome, the Catholic Church and the 2016 Papal Jubilee.
Pass Campo Marzio to admire its many churches — St Louis of the French, Sant’Agnese in Agone, Santa Maria della Pace and the Basilica of St Augustine, to name a few — and cross the river to Castel Sant’Angelo. From the popes’ ancient escape route of Borgo Pio, come face-to-face with St Peter’s Square where attention-commanding colonnades and St Peter’s Basilica await.
Stop to take photos and hear stories about the Vatican, then begin your route back to central Rome. Cruise past Via Giulia, an age-old pilgrimage road, and pause at the Church of Saint Mary of the Prayer and Death — a spooky-looking church that befits its name. Weave along the backstreets to see smaller, little-known churches before you finish at the start point.
Please note: A minimum of two people per booking is required.
