Explore part of the historic paddling route made famous by Canadian artist Tom Thomson. Experience for yourself the wild, mystic beauty that has inspired artists, adventurers and world travelers for over 100 years. Morning:
Arrive at Algonquin Guesthouse to a friendly South River welcome from your local guide. You'll have a chance to chat and discover your interests – art, Algonquin Park, local history, natural environment, wild herbs and edibles. Then depart by canoe or kayak from beautiful Tom Thomson Park on the South River and head toward Algonquin Park. As you paddle Thomson’s favorite access route, visually explore the waters and shorelines for wildlife, wild edibles and the incredible landscape which became world famous through paintings by Thomson and Canada's Group of Seven.

Lunch:
Raft up for a floating lunch on the river or go ashore on a sandy beach to take a break, stretch and refresh.

Afternoon:
Continue to travel up river as far as the first series of portages where you will stop. In the deep quiet, away from all human activity, you will be able to soak up the mystic atmosphere of the north. Take time to sketch, journal, take photos or just breathe.
You will return mid-late afternoon and regroup at the Gallery to share thoughts and highlights of the day’s experience. Herbal snack and refreshments will be served on the Gallery Porch or in the Edible Forest Garden.
