If you’ve always wondered what scuba diving was all about, here is your chance! You will experience the wonder of breathing underwater, feel what it’s like to be weightless and able to move in three dimensions, explore beautiful coral reefs and come face-to-face with a huge variety of marine life. This 1-Day course welcome anyone over the age of 10, in good general health and not currently suffering from a cold or head/sinus congestion. There is a short medical questionnaire to fill out to ensure that you do not have any conditions which may prevent you from scuba diving.

First, you will receive a brief scuba theory lesson from your instructor and an explanation on how to use your equipment. This takes about 20-30 minutes.

Next, your instructor will explain and demonstrate the basic scuba skills you will need to learn and practice underwater before going for your dive. Learning and practicing these skills takes place right off the beach, in shallow water that you can stand up in.  This takes about 20-40 minutes, depending on your comfort level and pace of learning. We go very slowly and make sure you are as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

Once you have practiced the skills and your instructor feels you are ready to move on, you will start to slowly swim a bit deeper, 3 feet (1 meter) at a time, giving you a chance to get used to moving around underwater. You may feel a bit awkward and like you can’t control your body – that’s perfectly normal in the beginning! Your instructor will be close enough to you at all times to provide assistance. We also go slowly in order to give you plenty of time to equalize the pressure in your ears. You’ll already start seeing coral and fishes at around 6-9 feet (2-3 meters) depth, and usually at this point, any nervousness is replaced by excitement and amazement!

On this first dive, your instructor can take you to a maximum depth of 40 feet (12 meters), but there’s no need to go that deep in order to see a lot. Your instructor will be monitoring your comfort level at all times in order to ensure your safety. For non-swimmers, your instructor will either hold your hand, arm or tank, or have you hold onto a rope. Your dive will last about 45 minutes, though it may be shorter or longer depending on your air consumption.

After your first dive, we take a break for lunch and to relax a bit. After one hour, it’s time for the second dive at a different location.

Please note that you will not receive a scuba diving certification upon completion of this program. You can, however go on to complete your SSI Open Water Diver certification in an additional 2 days here with us.
