Fraser Island features a diverse landscape with long stretches of sandy beach, huge sand dunes, lush rainforest and more than 100 freshwater lakes. It is known as K’Gari (paradise) in the local Aboriginal language.

Enjoy exploring the island’s highlights during your 2-day excursion with private accommodation. You can even join in the fun of this tag-along style excursion by driving a 4WD vehicle around the island. Your group travels in up to four 4WD vehicles with your professional guide driving the first vehicle; you and group members take turns driving the other vehicles.

At the end of an adventurous day, head to a well-equipped beach house located along Seventy-Five Mile beach for hot showers and comfortable beds.

Your trip includes two lunches, one dinner and one breakfast, all transportation, accommodation and an expert guide.

Day 1: Hervey Bay – Fraser Island (L, D)
After morning pickup in Hervey Bay, your guide takes the group to a nearby store to stock up on food supplies for your trip. Afterward, hop on the ferry for the short ride to Fraser Island. Once on the island, your guide provides a safety briefing for operating the 4WD and exploring the island.

Although the itinerary may change depending on the day’s conditions, you can expect to visit most of the highlights of Fraser Island during your 2-day tag-along tour. Enjoy the freedom of taking sandy trails through the rainforest. Hop into the pristine waters of Lake McKenzie or simply kick back on the white-sand beach. See Central Station, which was once the hub of the island’s timber industry. Check out the towering king ferns, ghost gums and pine trees during a stroll at Wanggoolba Creek.

Along Seventy-Five Mile Beach, look for the island’s wild dingoes as you head to the Maheno shipwreck that was damaged beyond repair by a cyclone in 1935. You can also stare in awe at the colorful Pinnacles. If conditions permit, there will be enough time for a dip at Champagne Pools, a naturally formed swimming hole that is fed by the ocean. Hike to Indian Head for stunning views over the ocean and possibly a glimpse of dolphins, rays, sharks, turtles, and migrating humpback whales that swim through from July to November. Walk up the boardwalk on the side of Eli Creek then have the option to float back down to the beach on the creek’s gentle current.

At the end of your day’s adventures, head to your private beach lodge to have dinner and relax.

Overnight: Private Beach Lodge, Fraser Island

Day 2: Fraser Island – Hervey Bay (B, L)
You get to do and see more on the second day as an experienced guide shows you some of the other best spots on Fraser Island. After breakfast, head out to play, swim, and sightsee before you return to the mainland on an afternoon ferry. Your tour ends with drop off at your Hervey Bay hotel by early evening.
