See a panoply of wildlife and capture amazing photos on this 2-day adventure in two of America’s most revered national parks: Yellowstone and Grand Teton. With the help of your guide, spot impressive animals it would be difficult to find on your own. Visit famous landmarks in the parks and stay overnight at a hotel in Montana, soaking up the wild and pristine beauty of this distinctive region.

Day 1: Jackson or Teton Village – Grand Teton – Yellowstone (L)

Your 2-day wilderness escape starts in the early morning in Wyoming with pickup from your Jackson or Teton Village area hotel. As you travel by coach among the towering peaks of Grand Teton National Park glowing in the gentle morning light, enjoy complimentary snacks and refreshments and keep your eyes peeled for moose, elk, bison, grizzlies, black bears, wolves, coyotes and eagles. Binoculars will be provided for optimal viewing.

Continue to nearby Yellowstone National Park, the first national park ever established, and see two of its many lovely waterfalls: the Upper Falls and Lower Falls. Take in views of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, a chasm on the Yellowstone River that cuts up to 1200 feet (366 m) deep. Savor a picnic lunch in this park teeming with animal and plant life as your guide shares facts about the geological and human forces that have shaped this area over thousands of years.

Spend the evening in Yellowstone’s Lamar Valley – often called the ‘American Serengeti’ – searching for more wildlife. It was here that bison were brought back from the brink of extinction in the early 1900s. Look for these great woolly beasts and herds of elk coming out for their evening meal. Afterward, cross just over the border into Montana and have your own hearty dinner (own expense) at a local restaurant to finish off your day of exploration before settling into your comfortable hotel room for the night.

Overnight: Hotel in West Yellowstone or Cooke City, Montana

Day 2: Yellowstone – Jackson or Teton Village

Head back to Yellowstone’s Lamar Valley this morning to search for bears and wolves. Wolves were successfully re-introduced to this area in the 1990s, and your chances of seeing one are high. Lamar Valley is also the best place in Yellowstone to spy a grizzly bear, so have your camera ready!

Spend the rest of the day taking short and easy hikes around some of the many geothermal features at Yellowstone created by volcanic activity. See famous Old Faithful’s massive eruption of water and the dramatic rock terraces at Mammoth Hot Springs.

Reminisce about the most memorable wildlife sightings from your small-group tour as you are driven from Yellowstone back to your hotel in the early evening.
