That river is Caño Cristales. This 3-day tour brings you to one of the best kept secrets in the world. The tour starts from La Macarena Airport.Day 1: (L,D)
Welcome at the airport of La Macarena and drop of the luggage at the hotel in the village. We will have lunch in the village and continue right after to Caño Cristales, the river of five colors, known as the most beautiful river in Colombia with waterfalls and natural swimming pools.
In order to get to Caño Cristales we take a 20 minutes boat trip over the River Guayabero where we will be able to spot a lot of fauna of the region, such as monkeys, pavas hediondas, lots of other species of birds, and, if we are lucky, also the caiman of the Guayabero. We continue in a jeep 4x4 for about 20 minutes which brings us to the spring of Cajuche where we will start an ecological hiking to Cristalitos or to another place.
Together with our local guide we will try to see as much as possible from the River. The guide will also indicate the best places for resting and swimming.
At the end of the afternoon we return to the village of La Macarena for dinner and night in a hotel in town.
Day 2: (B,L,D)
After breakfast at the hotel we continue to Caño Cristales the same way we did on the day 1, by boat over the River Guayabero and by jeep to the starting point of the hike to Caño Cristales.
Today we will explore the other side stream of Caño Cristales “Brazo Pianos” with its different colors, waterfalls and natural swimming pools; Caño Escondido, Cascada de la Virgen, Pianos, Piedra Diosa de la Macarena, Cascada de los Cuarzos, Paso Mojado, Tapetes. The local guide will show the best places to rest and to swim in the river.
We will have lunch served in the “bijaos” banana leafs during the hike. At the end of the afternoon we return to the village of La Macarena for dinner and participation in the cultural integration program presenting the folklore and gastronomy of the region, music and dances with the tourists. This activity is only held with a minimum of 8 tourists (either from the same group or mixed with other groups).
We spend the night in a hotel in town.
Day 3 (B,L)
After breakfast at the hotel, depending on the departure time of our plane, we will organize an activity in the surroundings of the village of La Macarena. We will go on a boat trip over the Guayabero River, than by jeep to the starting point of the hike to Caño Cristales to discover 3 other spots (Piscina Karol Cristal, los Ocos, Piscina del Turista). Activity will be chosen by a local guide depending on the weather conditions and the time available. After the activity we will come back to the village.
