An ancient and remote footpath, you will see massive snow-capped mountains and lush tropical rainforests. You will trek from 3,900m/12,800ft to 2,100m/6,900ft, traveling across mountain passes, snow-capped peaks and seeing nature in its purest form. You will experience more than 15 different ecosystems from beginning to end. Your first day starts with departure from Cusco at around 4:30am. Take a bus to the town of Mollepata (2900 meters above sea level), where you will meet the staff and begin the trek to Soraypampa (3850 meters above sea level). Have lunch at 1pm
Huayracmachay and continue for 3 more hours to reach the campsite, Challway (2920 meters above sea level). At 7pm, recuperate from the trek and have dinner.

Day 2: Soraypampa - Challway (B) (L) (D)
On this day, you will continue the trek early in the morning after breakfast and discover a whole new ecosystem. See the drastic changes from dry scenery to snowy peaks and tropical areas. Hike up to Pampas Salkantay and then continue toward the left side of the snowy peaks of Umantay, located next to the Apu Salkantay. At midday, you will reach the highest point ( 4600 meters above sea level).

Day 3: Challway - La Playa - Lucmabamba (B) (L) (D)
Your trek starts at 7am and you can admire the beautiful sunrise. You will trek for 5 hours approximately and reach Playa Sahuayaco. During this time, you can observe the town of Collpabamba, also called the "Forest Cloudy Brow" where waterfalls, fruit-bearing trees, varied flora, and birds can be seen. Enjoy lunch at Playa Sahuayaco and continue for two more hours to Lucmabamba where you will camp for the night.

Day 4: Lucmabamba - Llaptapata - Hidroelectrica - Aguas Calientes (17km, 9 hours)
At 8am you will begin a 2-hour hike up to get to Llapta Pata, a beautiful archeological site which has connections to the Inca sites Machupicchu and Sayacmarka. Explore this wonderful place and head to Hydro-Electrica (power plant). Then, after 3 hours of walk, reach Aguas Calientes where you will rest at a hostel for the night. After leaving your luggage, you will enjoy dinner with your group at a local restaurant.

Day 5: Aguas Calientes - Machi Picchu - Cusco (B)
Early in the morning, eat breakfast before heading to the citadel of Machu Picchu (approximately a 25-minute bus ride). You will be able to appreciate the sunrise there. This amazing Inca site is a masterpiece of architecture and engineering, believed to have been a sanctuary and energetic center. Today it is recognized by UNESCO as one of the seven wonders of the world and a World Heritage site. Enjoy a great tour of Machu Picchu with a professional guide and have free time to explore on your own afterwards. Once you feel you have seen every corner of this place, you will be taken back to Aguas Calientes by bus to have lunch (not included). You will get your train and bus tickets to Cusco at the restaurant in Aguas Calientes and can head back after lunch.
