One day tour in Cluj-Napoca and surroundings including a Turda salted mine, and Alba Carolina Fortress.Starting in the morning you will meet with your guide and you will head to Alba Iulia - the fortress city, a town in the heart of Transylvania that takes you back in time centuries ago because of the Roman influences. Apulum, by its Latin name, due to its strategic importance was the largest Roman castrum. Over time this city was also influenced by the Germans and the Hungarians which transforms the town in a place with a very high cultural diversity. Different architectural styles will delight you sight: Baroque and Romanesque churches, Roman citadels and even a Babylonian building.

You will have the opportunity to travel back in time by visiting an 18th century fortress, Alba Carolina.

Our journey takes us to Rimetea, a fairy-tale village, sheltered by the majestic Apuseni Mountains. You will enjoy lunch in this beautiful place filled with amazing white houses with green windows.

Romania’s largest fortress is Alba Carolina, an impressive six pointed star-shaped fortification surrounded by 12 km of walls. The fortification has a symbolic meaning being located in the center of the country, surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains and the place where kings were crowned in Romania. Neither one of the 6 entrances aren’t a disappointment. All of them have impressive Baroque decorative elements, unique in European military architecture. The sensation of the past centuries will be sustained by the Austrian guards in their vintage clothes who protect the citadel. The fortification was first a Roman fort, then a fortress during the Middle Ages and later a Vauban type citadel provided with bastions.

Next on our trip is the Transylvanian salt mine in Turda.  In this area the salt deposits were formed 13 million years ago and the result of two thousand years of work will amaze you. The hundred meters galleries open into a huge room carved in salt with a 90 meter height and in the middle of it you can enjoy a boat ride on the salt lake. If you are in search of spectacular images to capture with your camera this is the place to come to. A glass elevator provides an astonishing overview of the mine. All year long the temperature is constant, between 10 to 12 degrees Celsius and the salty air has proven therapeutic properties, especially for people with respiratory problems.

After your tour in the salt mine you will be transferred back to Cluj-Napoca.
