During this tour, you will be taken to the Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave located at Tapir Mountain Reserve. Once there, you will be able to tour the famous Mayan burial site and take a swim in lagoon located in the cave.This cave is one of the most popular Mayan Burials site in Western Belize. The cave contains 4 skeletons, the most famous one is one of a young girl, the bones of which have been completely covered by the natural process of the cave, leaving it with a sparkling appearance.
At a 45-minute drive from San Ignacio, you will enter the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve and hike through the jungle for 45 minutes to the entrance of the cave. You can swim across a small spring- fed pool and access underground tunnels, passageways and chambers. You will have time to relax and enjoy a lunch before returning to San Ignacio. An extra set of clothes is recommended for when your tour is finished, you will be wet and will need a change of clothes for the trip back.
