Get up close to the world’s largest remaining population of wild elephants on this full-day trip to Addo Elephant National Park from Port Elizabeth. Enjoy a scenic journey from your hotel on South Africa’s picturesque, southeastern coast to this extraordinary park that is home to hundreds of elephants, as well as lions, buffalo and other wildlife. Then, head out on a 3-hour game drive to steal a glimpse of these majestic giants in their natural habitat and learn about their fascinating behavioral traits from the expert, local guide. Start your day with a pickup from your centrally located Port Elizabeth hotel, or your accommodation in Summerstrand. Meet your local guide, then settle into your comfortable seat on board an air-conditioned vehicle, and enjoy the scenic drive inland.

After approximately an hour on the road, arrive at the thatched entrance gate of Addo Elephant National Park, the third largest national park in South Africa. Home to the world’s largest remaining population of wild elephants, the park’s finely tuned ecosystem offers a sanctuary to hundreds of elephants, as well as lions, buffalo, black rhino, spotted hyena, leopard, a variety of antelope and zebra species, and a species of flightless dung beetle who are found almost exclusively at Addo.

Inside the park, head out on a 3-hour game drive. Rumble deep into the heart of the reserve and admire the scenery as you scan the dense bush for elephants and other wildlife. As you travel, listen to your knowledgeable guide talk about these majestic creatures and their fascinating behavior and habits.

Pass by the citrus trees that are dotted about the park, bearing tantalizing fruit during the winter and filling the air with the heady aroma of blossom during the summer months, and see if you can spot any animals seeking solace in their shade.

After your game drive, enjoy a stop off at the Addo Restaurant & Lapo to refuel with a drink and some lunch (own expense). Then, return to your vehicle and relax on the journey back to Port Elizabeth where your tour concludes with a drop-off at your hotel.
