The Royal Palace of Venaria is a magnificent example of Baroque art immersed in the beautiful setting of its namesake village. The French Gardens have left their mark important architects as Amedeo di Castellamonte and Juvarra. This ticket ensures a streamlined entry into the Venaria Royal Palace. The permanent display of the Royal Palace is a journey in the history and the art of the House of Savoy that takes visitors on a 2000-meter long walk through the ground floor and first floor of the palace. It unfolds in the 17th century spaces of the Hall of Diana, the elegant Great Gallery with music composed by Brian Eno, the solemn Church of St. Hubert, the 18th century architectural masterpieces by Filippo Juvarra and their sumptuous stucco decorations, and Peopling the Palaces - a series of multimedia installations by Peter Greenaway on court life.

The charming Apartments of the Duchess Maria Giovanna Battista of Savoy-Nemours - to whom the palace is dedicated with its symbols of the goddess Diana - have been entirely refurbished. Another recent addition is the refined Collection of Paintings of Prince Eugene of Savoy that now grace the walls of the Apartment of Princess Ludovica, the sister of Duke Carlo Emanuele II. The current collection consists of 60 works dating back to the 17th century from the Galleria Sabauda, including masterpieces by Reni, Albani, Cignani, Van Dyck, Brueghel and other Flemish and Dutch masters.

The permanent display ends with a section titled Lights and Shadows: Restoration in Progress, an overview of the palace’s history over the last two centuries.

The Gardens of the Palace, after a long and complex restoration process, are now bringing together an ancient and modern charm. The extraordinary balance between the archaeological remains and the contemporary artworks is set in a unparalleled scenery among Italian gardens for the majesty and the vastness of the natural landscape, that extends from the thick forests of the Park of La Mandria to the mountain peaks of the Alps.
