This 4-hour, small-group tour will take you to Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Meteora is one of the largest and most important groups of orthodox monasteries in Greece. You will have the opportunity to visit 3 of the 6 monasteries in this area.Following a pick up from your hotel, you will travel a few miles northwest of Kalabaka, to Meteora. The impressive rocks of Meteora rise from the plains of Thessaly, and are one of the most amazing places in Greece. Many centuries ago, on these gigantic rocks with the breath-taking landscape reaching heights of close to 2000 feet (600 m), one of the most important monastic communities of Greece was formed. Meteora is a great place to experience spectacular landscapes and byzantine monasteries perched on top of steep rocks that house priceless artifacts and wall paintings.

Today only six monasteries are active, operated by a small number of monks and nuns who reside on Meteora. You will enjoy viewing all 6 monasteries and have the chance to visit inside 3 of them.

During your morning tour, you will be transported in comfort and safety by a luxury air-conditioned mini-bus to the cliff-top monasteries. There will be numerous photo opportunity stops along the way, so you will be able to record your memories. Enjoy short walks during the excursion, as well.

Around noon you will be returned to your hotel, so your afternoon is free for other activities.
