Art's Inside: Guided Tour of Artist's Studios in Kotor

Art’s Inside! is an offbeat visit to a unique community of contemporary artists-in-residence visiting Kotor from around the world. Art’s Inside! is located in the former Maritime Ministry of Yugoslavia which is now being redeveloped by the gallerist Marat Guelman, who, as one of the original forces in contemporary art in Russia, now lives in exile in Montenegro, resulting from his criticisms of the Putin regime, and which he answered with a determined effort to establish Montenegro as a new center for contemporary art in Europe. At any given moment 4-6 artists live and work in Kotor for a month or two at a time, creating art with different media, various themes and without boundaries, often provocatively. This is a unique opportunity to meet these artists, speak with them about their lives and work, and watch as they create.


A short 500 meter walk from the Kotor Old town gate and Cruise Ship terminal stands the former JugoOceania building, visible from all points around. Now housing the Dukley European Art Center (DEAC) artists-in-residence program, Art's Inside, visitors are invited on an intimate guided tour of artist's studios, chance chats with the artists and retrospective look at the works created over the last two years since inception. The 75 minute long tour culminates with a rooftop panorama of the entire city Tivat, the bay and environs. Scheduled at 1pm every day except Monday, this tour can be organized at other times upon request.
