Originally founded in the time of the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, Aveiro is known for its genuine streets of water, light and colour. First, we visit Costa Nova and its typical colourful fisherman houses. After, we will pass in front of Aveiro Port from where the Codfish fleet used to depart to the Newfoundland waters. Next, we visit the city center, where you will sample the delicious “ovos moles”, a speciality egg-based dessert, followed by a "Moliceiro" cruise in the city channels. After a relaxing lunch break included, we head to the former capital of the Portuguese Kingdom in the Middle Ages, Coimbra, which is better known for its University, one of the oldest academic institutions in Europe. But Coimbra was also the setting for the most beautiful and forbidden love story between Dom Pedro I and Inês de Castro. Coimbra is knowledge, poetry, tradition, romantic splendour and its legendary fado singing of longings and reminisces about the past.
