The Baroque Churches tour takes you to some of the most beautiful Churches in Rome that are so often left off your average tour itinerary. Learn the language of Baroque architecture crafted in the minds of men such as the great baroque artist of Francesco Borromini, Giacomo della Porta, Carlo Moderna, Pietro de Cortona and more. Learn how stone was used to raise men’s minds and spirits to the contemplation of the Divine.The tour begins at the Ponte Sant'Angelo, as we cross the bridge and marvel at the 10 angelic statues designed by Bernini there you will learn the ideal behind still drama of stone and how this was transfigured into Baroque architecture.

We then make our way to the church of San Giovanni de Fiorentine a work of great Baroque genius in its own right and the resting place of the great Francesco Borromini. From there we visit two magnificent churches design by Borromini Santa Maria in Varicella as known as Chiesa Nuova, & Saint Agnese in Agona, and learn how the Counter Reformation was fought not just in words but in art.

Onward to the Dominican Order’s church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva located near the Pantheon. It is one of Rome’s few examples of gothic architecture aggrandized In the Baroque by the religious Order whilst they held in there nearby halls the trial of Galileo Galilei.

And finally we walk over to the two most architecturally influential Jesuit Churches in the world. The first is dedicated to the spanish knight and founder of the Jesuit order San Ignazio Loyola and the second the mother church of the Jesuit order Chiesa del Santissimo Nome di Gesù.
