Following a morning pickup from your hotel in Marrakech, meet your guide and head out of the city by 4-wheel drive vehicle to begin your tour. Traveling through Morocco’s majestic countryside offers a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech, and a rare glimpse into a more relaxed way of life in this magical part of the world.
Cruise off road in your 4x4 vehicle toward the soaring peaks and plummeting valleys of the Atlas mountains, covered in lush pastureland in summer and snow in winter. Travel the Berber trail (named after the indigenous people who live and work here) through the Ourika, Asni, Imlil and Tahannaout valleys, soaking up spectacular mountain views along the way. On route, see the smiling faces of happy locals living a lifestyle very different to Morocco’s city-folk and gain insight into an ancestral way of living which many thought had disappeared long ago.
Arrive first in the Berber village of Tahanaout and enjoy a guided visit of the mills. Sit down with the locals, and perhaps take a moment to gain insight into their way of life as you sip on a refreshing cup of traditional mint tea.
After waving a fond farewell to the villagers in Tahanaout, continue on to the village of Imlil in the Ourika Valley, where an appetizing lunch of local delicacies awaits (see sample menu below).
