You will first visit the Old Town historic area on a traditional-styled boat for approximately 20 minutes to enjoy the famous Suzhou water channels and its streets until you approach the city’s most famous garden: Humble Administrator's Garden. Do not miss this opportunity to observe the millenarian Chinese wisdom applied to the nature. The UNESCO declared this garden a World Heritage Site and it is one of the most representatives ones in the city.
Afterwards we will have some free time at leisure in Shantang Channels to taste a delicious lunch (at your own expense) in one of the many local and western restaurants or cafés of this beautiful part of the city. Walk among this romantic area composed of channels and get lost in the alleys where you will find cozy shops to do some shopping and taste more delicious food offered by the local restaurants.
After some free time, you will visit the Panmen Gate to travel back in time and find out about the epoche when castles and towers protected the city! A nice area that still preserves its original character. At your last stop, Suzhou’s Silk Factory and Shop, you will learn about the silk production process from the cocoon to the fabric! Very valuable for children and inquisitive adults! After admiring the production process, you can optionally acquire different objects crafted with this precious material.
