Led by a professional art historian with broad teaching skills, your family will learn of the function of the Circus Maximus as it was in ancient times and of the Circus Maximus as it stands today, as well as religion in ancient Rome and stories of the Roman gods, goddesses and deities.This walking tour leaves from an established meeting point, and explores the Mouth of Truth in the ancient forum, Boarium, meaning "the cowshed", as well as the the remains of the Basilica of Saint Mary in Cosmedin. Walk to the Circus Maximus where your family will take a short rest-stop then head to the Temple of Hercules and the Arch of Janus, then end at the Ancient Theatre of Marcellus.
While adults follow a guided tour, kids will do some coloring activities, some fun learning worksheets and represent the symbol of the Mouth of Truth and its old legend for a souvenir cd while imagining Roman everyday-life scenes within the Circus Maximus. They'll also learn about promoting and preserving archeological heritage, along with the history and details on the Mouth of Truth, the Arch of Janus and the various temples.
