Bullo River Station in the Northern Territory is the famous cattle station and homestead developed by the Henderson family, and the subject of Sara Henderson’s inspiring autobiography “From Strength to Strength”.This truly remote property lies 115-kilometers north-east of Kununurra, and occupies an area of 781-square miles (2,023-square kilometres), supporting a herd of up to 9,000 head of Brahmin cattle.
Bullo River welcomes guests to its sprawling homestead and provides a unique insight into the day-to-day life and operations of a working cattle station.
Departing from Kununurra in your fixed-wing aircraft, track initially over the lush Ord Irrigation Area and onwards to the remote and inaccessible WA/NT border region and Legune Station, the proposed site of the world’s largest prawn aquaculture project. Arriving at Bullo River 30-minutes later, you will usually be able to conduct a low level fly-over to chase the cattle from the station airstrip!
With 3+ hours at the station there is ample time to meet and chat with the locals and to take a 4WD guided tour to observe at first hand the operations of a remote cattle station. Afterwards your hosts will join you for a gourmet lunch in the station dining room.
The return flight to Kununurra takes you over the remote Keep River National Park.
