Keep an eye out for quaint produce stands filled with artichokes and for hang gliders floating over the Pacific Ocean along Highway 1. Prepare to hit the ground running in Monterey. Explore the bay by kayak, stand-up paddleboard or sailboat. If you’d rather get a closer look at what is beneath the water (like the world’s largest octopus), head over to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. And, of course, you’ll have to check out historic Cannery Row and Fisherman’s Wharf. Adventure, history and clam chowder await! You’ll stay overnight in Monterey at a comfortable hotel (included).
DAY 2 - Monterey to San Luis Obispo via Highway 1 and Big Sur
Rise and shine! You’ll get an early start today, as there is a lot of epic coastline to cover. Begin your morning with stunning views of Pebble Beach on a hike at Point Lobos State Reserve, the crown jewel of the California State Park system. Next up, continue down the coastal highway along the rugged cliffs of Big Sur and check out McWay waterfall as it tumbles 80 feet below into the Pacific Ocean. Next, you’ll drive over Bixby Bridge and make a quick stop in search of elephant seals before your entry to the legendary Hearst Castle (included). As your day comes to an end, enjoy the evening by walking the tree-lined downtown of America’s Happiest City, San Luis Obispo. You’ll stay overnight in a quiet hotel in SLO (included).
DAY 3 - San Luis Obispo to Los Angeles via Santa Barbara
Start your day with breakfast at the enchanting Madonna Inn and experience this landmark hotel’s imaginative interior design before heading to the American Riviera. Your options abound in Santa Barbara. If the sun, sand and ocean are calling your name, rent a stand up paddleboard or just soak it all in and relax at the beach. Looking to fit in some last minute shopping? You’ll want to stroll through the many boutiques along State Street. If you prefer to visit the Old Mission Santa Barbara or to take another hike, your guide will lead the way. No matter what you choose, you are sure to enjoy spending the day in this quaint California town. It’s time to get ready for the City of Angels, as our last stop of the tour is Hollywood!
