This is a unique market that takes place only on Saturdays. Can Cau is a small but very colorful market. Here you can see several ethnic minorities such as the Flower H’mong, Nung, Phu La as well as Chinese people. The trip offers you a boat ride along Chay River and a short walk to Trung Do village of Tay minority.After having breakfast, you will travel by car to Bac Ha, which is 70 km Southeast of Lao Cai. The ride is relatively flat from Lao Cai to Bao Nhai, where you will be taken through rural areas. Situated in the mountains in the border area 20 km from Bac Ha, Can Cau is a small, but very colorful market. Opening only on Saturdays, it always delivers a very photogenic display of Flower H’mong, Nung, Phu La ethnic costumes. The Chinese people also come for trading. After spending the whole morning exploring the market, you will leave the market for Bac Ha town where you will have lunch in a local restaurant.
After lunch, you'll drive downhill for about half an hour. You will then start a short walk to Trung Do village which belongs to the Tay minority. In case the Chay river’s water level is high enough, you will get on a motor-boat and have a cruise to Bao Nhai, experiencing the picturesque scenes on the river banks. If it is not possible to do the cruise, you'll cross the river to visit the Flower Hmong village before walking along the river in around 2 hours to Bao Nhai bridge, where your vehicle will await for you to embark on your journey back.
After lunch, you'll drive downhill for about half an hour. You will then start a short walk to Trung Do village which belongs to the Tay minority. In case the Chay river’s water level is high enough, you will get on a motor-boat and have a cruise to Bao Nhai, experiencing the picturesque scenes on the river banks.
