The guide will introduce himself and check that all participants understand the nature of the trip and are suitably dressed. All participants are required to complete and medical form and disclaimer prior to departure. The trip then commences with travel in our people carrier to the start of the trail, taking about 10min. Before starting the 30min forest hike to the river, participants are allocated safety equipment, which includes wet-suits, helmets, flotation vests and safety harnesses. Participants will normally use their own closed shoes for the trip, provided they have some grip, but rental shoes may be available - please check before arrival. The guide will ask customers to carry some of the equipment.

On the 30min hike down to the river, look out for the beautiful Knysna Loerie Turaco bird, sightings of which are common. At the river, canyoning attire is fitted, extra clothing is stowed and we get into the river. The naturally dark river water might be a new experience for some. Photos are included in the price and are taken by the guide, allowing you to focus on the job at hand. After wading and swimming through some rock pools, we reach the first action area featuring two waterfalls and deep pools. Here you'll be shown how to jump and slide down the various features by your knowledgeable and experienced guide. A truly exhilarating and refreshing experience! After a small snack and drink which are included in the price, the trip continues down stream to another spot where higher jumps are available to try, at your own risk. Instruction and demonstrations are given and good technique is emphasized. From this point, the trip moves up stream to the start of the exit hike. Here we change back into hiking gear and take a different trail up the hill to the vehicle. On the drive back we normally stop at the Map of Africa viewpoint, which offers stunning views of the Kaaimans river valley as well as the Indian Ocean. Then you'll be returned to the rendezvous point at the Wilderness Hotel.
