Visit Český Šternberk Castle and the fairytale Žleby Chateau, enjoy traditional Czech food at U Kosů, visit the Empire Kačina Chateau, and explore Sedlec’s unique ossuary. You’ll also take in stunning Bohemian scenery on this private tour from Prague. You will be picked up at your hotel at around 08:45am and head out of Prague on a 1-hour drive to Český Šternberk Castle, an iconic monument dating back more than 760 years.

The castle was built in 1241 and has stayed in the hands of the original family for more than 20 generations. Today you can admire the excellently appointed rooms, and experience different periods of time through the styles represented, including the Rococo, Biedermeier, Empire, and Baroque.

Afterwards you’ll tour Žleby Chateau, an impressive structure that looks to be straight out of a fairy tale. The Gothic castle dates to the late 13th century, and was rebuilt in 1849. Admire the remarkable collections of antiquities, the collections of historical guns, glass, porcelain, and ceramics, and also the collections of stained glass, paintings, textiles, and furniture from the Renaissance to the 20th century.

You’ll visit a restaurant called U Kosů for lunch, which offers Czech cuisine.

After a short ride you’ll arrive at the monumental chateau in Kačina. Built by Jan Rudolf Chotek in the early part of the 19th century, the chateau is one of the most important buildings of the Empire architectural style in the Czech Republic.

Your tour continues to a part of Kutná Hora known as Sedlec. According to legend, the abbot of the Sedlec monastery, Jindrich, brought a handful of dirt from the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem in the 13th century and spread it on the monastery graveyard.

The graveyard became a holy ground, part of the Holy Land, and subsequently an important burial site for not only Bohemia, but also Poland, Bavaria, and Belgium. Today’s chapel is the result of Baroque renovations carried out by Jan Blazej Santini.

The chapel’s decoration is formed exclusively by human bones, prepared by carver Frantisek Rint.
