Veer off the main road through countryside roads for about 30 minutes as you ascend to 2625 feet (800 meters) above sea level for a panoramic view of the Kota Kinabalu suburbs. En-route catch a glimpse of a typical Dusun village where you may be able to see buffaloes grazing by the roadside and village children playing football in the village field. On the other side of the Kokol mountain range, on a clear day, Mount Kinabalu can be seen towering above the longest range in Sabah - the Crocker Range.

The menu for the Countryside Dinner is a Hot Pot Dinner, which is another typical Malaysian cuisine. Locally known as Steamboat, this form of dinner is usually encouraged among families and friend to create interaction and fun while cooking and eating together. A pot of soup is placed on top of a gas cooker. When boiled, a wide variety of raw ingredients are intermittently cooked and consumed as the dinner progresses.

With the temperature at Kokol usually below 24C, having a freshly cooked hot dinner becomes a welcoming experience. The soup, in addition, becomes tastier each minute from the flavors of the seafood and meat which acts as a base for the finale which is normally the noodles.

For those who do not wish to cook their own dinner, set dinner or vegetarian set is available but we wish to advise that due the cold weather, the food do get cold very fast.
