Experience the magic of the great Waterfall Dettifoss and its surroundings. The combined width and height make it the most powerful waterfall in Europe, so this tour will take time to find the best sites for photographing along the glacial canyon edge, depending on weather and other conditions during that particular day.The tour starts in Akureyri and travels through the beautiful Lake Mývatn area en-route to Dettifoss Waterfall on a Super Jeep vehicle (the journey time will depend on weather and road conditions). When arriving to Dettifoss Waterfall, you'll hike a short distance down to the waterfall, and use snowshoes if the track is covered in snow. Dettifoss is a 44m high and 100m wide waterfall in the glacier river Jökulsá á Fjöllum, a mass of water, mud and sand rumbling from Vatnajökull Glacier into Iceland's most impressive canyon. It is said that after seeing Dettifoss, Europe's most powerful waterfall, up close and personal you will never be the same. After spending time by Dettifoss, the group will trek back and head back to Akureyri.
