You will discover the secret dive bars and saloons in the city, as chosen by your guides-bartenders. You will also learn about the East Village’s colorful history, from the Beat poets to the Ramones.

You'll meet your guide in the East Village and learn about the history of the area, and how the drinking culture of the 1970s influenced the boom years of city dive bars in the 1980s and 90s. You will see where the city cowboy bars originated that spawned a whole genre in saloons.

Your guides are actual dive bar bartenders with decades of experience. They will share their stories, tips, and tall tales about the drinking life in the Village. If you want to know what it’s like to bartend, or pick up some tips from the other side of the bar, now is your chance. As we visit three glorious saloons, the guides will share the history, lore, and traditions of city drinking rituals.

You will be taken to three dive bars that are off the beaten path that few know about. Your fellow travelers will be visitors from around the globe who also love to explore drinking establishments. By the end of the tour you’ve made new friends, found amazing places to drink, and learned a little bit of history along the way. There is also one stop to get a quick bite (included with your ticket).

After we visit the bars, your guides will give you their personal picks for other places in the neighborhood to continue to imbibe. If not, they will make sure you are safely on your way home or to your hotel.
