Enjoy this unique opportunity to see the El Yunque Rainforest in its transition from daytime to nighttime. This fully-guided nature walk through Angelito Trail and Las Damas Pool includes commentary on the flora, fauna and history of the rainforest. Come and enjoy the El Yunque Rainforest while its asleep, then leave as it awakes! Did you know that about 60 percent of the El Yunque Rainforest inhabitants are nocturnal, and are very seldom seen during the daytime? Due to strict forestry park hours all guests visiting the El Yunque must be out of the forest no later than 6pm!

This tour gives you this exclusive opportunity to be part of an evening tour to see a side of this rainforest that few have ever seen, heard or smelled. It is an experience not to be missed! Imagine entering the forest just about one hour before the sun sets and via a guided nature walk tour, learning about its daytime flora and fauna while walking along a man-made, natural trail that winds its way through the forest to a wild and scenic river better known as the Mameyes.

If weather conditions permit, you will be able to take a dip in one of the El Yunque’s finest natural swimming holes, “Las Damas” pool (The Ladies Pool) or just relax around the river banks and listen to the rushing water through the rocks! After about thirty minutes its time to start the walk back out at a no more perfect time than "Twilight"!

All diurnal animals are preparing to rest, while the nocturnal animals (active during nighttime hours) are starting to come to life. First you will notice the cooling of the air and the dew points rising. Then you will notice sounds becoming much more intense as new smells fill the air while night prepares to fall. The only endemic mammal to the island of Puerto Rico, the bat, takes flight, sounds of the Puerto Rican screech owl can be heard in the distance and insects can be both seen and heard. You are likely to see tree frogs of seventeen species start calling out to mates and aquatic life become more present as the El Yunque awakes! Come and enjoy the El Yunque Rainforest while its asleep, then leave as it awakes! This is an adventure not to be missed!
