Elafonisi ( "deer island") is an island located close to the southwestern corner of the Mediterranean island of Crete, of which it is administratively a part, in the regional unit of Chania. When the weather is fine it is possible to walk to the island through the shallow water. The island is a protected nature reserve.

Elafonisi ( "deer island") is an island located close to the southwestern corner of the Mediterranean island of Crete, of which it is administratively a part, in the regional unit of Chania. This excursion takes you to the foothills of the wild mountain landscape of the White Mountains and a dream beach in the extreme southwest of Crete.Along the green north coast it goes up just before Kastelli, where you turn south and go through the village Topolia. First stop is Village of Elos that we can have breakfast,
Continue through tiny rural villages to the nunnery Chrissoskalitissa (Gold level). After the tour of the facility, it is not far to perhaps the most beautiful beach of Crete - Kastelli (Deer Island).
Before overgrown by pine and juniper dunes there is a flat fine sandy beach that shimmers in places pink by the addition of coral. At the opposite island of Kastelli, you can wade through the shallow turquoise lagoon, the water is no more than waist high.
We are departing from Elafonissi approx.. 15:00 and we head to Village Amygdalokefali at a restaurant with magnificent view.Afterwards we had back to the hotels.
