Spend 1 or 2 hours riding the shoulders of these majestic and most gentle beasts. You will be picked up from your hotel in the Krabi province traveling along Krabi’s Romantic Road boasting vast jutting Karsts to spend some time amid the limestone cliffs and coconut palms of the Krabi jungle. Elephants are revered in Thailand and are one of the country’s national symbols.

The elephant camp, established in 1999, is a 7 km car ride from Ao Nang Beach. The camp is located in a shady forest area with plenty of water in the rivers for the animals to enjoy all year round

At the camp the staff will introduce you to your elephant. With the assistance of a special platform, you mount the elephant that is fitted with a very comfortable saddle strapped to its back. Many of the saddles are large enough to carry two adults and one child. Most of the elephants at the camp are between 20 and 40 years old and have been around people for most of their lives.

Once you've securely mounted the elephant, trek across the river that runs through camp and head into the unspoiled jungle of Krabi, through the coconut trees and oil palms and surrounding local wildlife. The trek takes you through a pristine jungle forest where you will hear and likely see many of its birds, and perhaps even monkeys. The ride is very relaxing and quiet as the elephant’s stride rocks back and forth. They truly are gentle giants!

After your 1- or 2-hour elephant trek, dismount cool off in the river or head over to the small restaurant area for a relaxing drink. Afterwards, you'll be given some snacks to reward your lovely elephants before you head back to your hotel to end the tour.
