Enjoy a private, authentic meal in a local Johdpur home in the heart of the Old City. Experience traditional Indian life and cuisine with your hosts Jitendra and Lata as you dine together over delicious dishes. Leave with a full belly, new friends, a true glimpse into a local’s life, and an appreciation of Indian culture. Truly an off-the-beaten path, inside experience you won't want to miss!

Jitendra and his wife Lata live in the heart of Jodhpur's Old City in a home that was built in the 1940s by Jitendra's grandfather. The family enjoys hosting guests and introducing people from all over the world to authentic home-style cooking.

After a warm welcome into this modest generational household, where Jitendra and Lata live along with their twin sons and their son’s new wives, you will enjoy a simple, everyday vegetarian Rajasthani meal that Lata and her daughters-in-law have lovingly prepared. Lata took a cooking class while in university and has been feeding her family for the decades since. The meal will include authentic dishes that a typical local family might enjoy on a day to day basis. Your home-style meal will be served on a stainless steel thali and might include dishes such as gatta ki sabji (a typical Rajasthani dish of grain dumplings in sauce), Rajasthani biryani, stir-fried and spiced vegetables like carrots, peas and leafy greens, all served with roti and puri (Indian breads). Conclude with a simple dessert, perhaps a subtly sweet cashew nut halva. After your meal, Jitendra will invite you up to their rooftop for fantastic views of the Mehrangarh Fort and the surrounding old city, known for its pastel blue facades. Leave with new friends, a full stomach, and lifelong memories.

Please note, your host is not a professional chef, rather this experience is a visit into an authentic, local home to meet a local person and share the culture and cuisine together.
