With 12 people or less per group, your journey through the discovery of Italy’s finest wines and food will be personal and at a slow pace always maintaining full interaction with your experienced English speaking Foodie tour guide.Led by your tour guide you will visit three local “enoteca” (wine bars) to pair some of Italy’s finest wines with various food delicacies. Throughout the evening learn about the history of wine and its place in Italian culture from ancient times until now. Your palate will be delighted by amazing flavour as the romantic landscapes find a special place in your heart. Whether you’re an intrepid novice or a serious Italian food enthusiast, you will enjoy this sophisticated but informal food adventure that takes you around Rome to celebrate its food and the story behind it, feeling and eating like a true Roman.
Starting at piazza Campo di Fiori, visit an artisan deli and enjoy Castelli Romani wine paired with typical cured meats made by a local family since 1890. Next you’ll visit the heart of the Jewish ghetto to see a one-of-a-kind shop described as the kingdom of cheeses. The owner, Beppe, moved to Rome from northern Piedmont where his family has been making cheese since 1891. Taste plenty of varieties paired with great red and white Piedmont wine.
Then on to a classic enoteca in the heart of Trastevere which boasts a cellar of over 1000 different wines. With the help of a skilled sommelier, you will finish the night by savouring two unforgettable Italian wines with delicious local appetizers. Your guide won’t leave without pointing out the best dining, bars, gelato, and of course….the way back to your hotel.
