Meet your experienced captain, get a safety briefing and pull on your coveralls for your trip. Climb into the 12-passenger RIB, put on your supplied gloves and goggles, and hold tight as you set off. Then, feel your adrenalin race as your RIB leaves the harbor and bounces across the waves.
Pause to admire Harpa concert hall on Reykjavik’s waterfront. Gaze at the glittering glass building that was inspired by Iceland’s volcanic geology and then pass the famous Sun Voyager by Jón Gunnar Árnason — a simple stainless steel sculpture of a boat that points west, toward the sun.
Then, pull away from the shore and soak up panoramic views of Reykjavik as you zip across Faxaflói Bay. On a clear day, see Snæfellsjökull Glacier to the west — a towering volcano whose summit is capped by a snow-white glacier.
Zoom into the fjord south of Mt Esja and make a brief stop at Therney Island for photos of the mountains and surrounding shorelines.
Keep a lookout for seabirds as you zip across the water to Lundey Island. Colorful puffins nest here between May and August, so if you travel during that season, your RIB will hug the rocky shoreline for up-close views of these adorable birds.
After your 1-hour cruise, arrive back at the harbor where your trip concludes.
