Enjoy a 5km (3.1 mi) walk to explore the traditional cork forests of the Alentejo. Discover the in's and out's of the cork world through your guide, and explore the farmhouse estate that harvests cork. You can also enjoy an optional cork-strippers' lunch.
The farm that you will visit is a paradise for walkers, ramblers and wine lovers. Imagine walking through rolling hills, cork forests, olive groves and vineyards in a landscape occasionally broken by a medieval fortress or an abandoned chapel. For six generations, the Mollet family has made a living on their 1,400 acre estate in the Alentejo by sustainably managing cork forests, rearing sheep and making fine wines. You're invited to join the gathering to share the joy of their lives and show you the beauty of the surrounding countryside.

Nature-lovers and birdwatchers will not be disappointed. With luck, you might see or come across an Egyptian mongoose, bustards, wild boars, hoopoes, bee-eaters, booted eagles and many more species.

Upon arrival you will be introduced to your guide, a local archaeologist and conservationist. Start with a nice cup of tea, coffee or a cool refreshment. You will be taken on a beautiful 5km (3.1 mi) walk into the deepest parts of the cork forest. During your walk your guide will explain to you everything about the cork trees, cork cycle (cork stripping, storage and manufacturing). You will also learn about local fauna and flora, and all of the farm activities which includes honey production, vineyard wine production, Iberian pig fattening, and harvesting olive groves.

Later, head to the farmhouse and visit the shop where you can find the finest products this estate has to offer (cork handicraft, biologic olives and olive oil, honey and, of course, the wines). Lastly, enjoy a cork stripper's traditional three-course meal in a quiet family-run restaurant.
