Inside the basilica are numerous masterpieces, most famously, Michelangelo's Pieta. Your guide will go over the history and origins of many of these masterpieces, along with the techniques used to create them.
You will also hear about the equally famous St Peter's Square, including the red granite Egyptian obelisk that stands in the center. Caligula had the monument transferred to Rome from Alexandria in 37 AD. It didn't reach its current location in the square until 1586.
