Then, visit an aloe vera factory where you’ll learn about the many uses of this famous plant before ending your tour at the beautiful Corralejo Natural Park.Start your day trip with a pickup from an agreed meeting location in Fuerteventura , then travel by air-conditioned coach to Betancuria, the island’s former capital. As you cruise along the quiet roads, gaze out of the window at the surreal landscape dotted with volcanoes, goat farms, cacti and lofty palm trees.

On arrival, see Betancuria’s pretty, whitewashed buildings appear amid the rolling volcanic hills that, in varying hues of red, orange and green, stand out dramatically against the blue sky. Stroll around its pretty squares either with your guide or independently, and then perhaps visit the charming Santa Maria church to see its ornate Baroque altar.

Return to your coach and relax as you trace the winding mountain roads to Antigua. Stop here to refuel with a delicious lunch at a local restaurant (own expense) before making your way to a spectacular viewpoint nearby. Admire the sweeping, mountain views and snap a few photos before turning your lens on one of the chipmunks that can often be seen scurrying around.

Continue on to Pajara, a traditional village in the southwestern part of the island. Spend time here at your leisure, perhaps visiting the Church of Our Lady of Regla, famed for its two aisles and Aztec-style door carvings.

Next, visit an aloe vera factory, a plant that the Canary Islands are famed for. Learn about this unique succulent and its many uses, from treating burns to moisturizing skin and hair, and then have the opportunity to test out some of the products.

Then, pass through Puerto del Rosario, the island’s capital, on route to the Corralejo Natural Park. Have your camera ready as you enjoy free time to stroll along the 6-mile (11-kilometer) stretch of giant sand dunes.

Your tour then concludes back at the original start point.
