Ukiyo-e that literally means "pictures of the floating world" in Japanese is a genre of art that flourished in Japan from the 17th through 19th centuries. Ukiyo-e artists produced woodblock prints and paintings to depict certain characters, scenes from history and folk tales, travel scenes and landscapes, and flora and fauna. Take a walk to the scenic spot overlooking the Mt.Fuji and deep blue Suruga Bay and also stop by the popular Satta Pass that was drawn as a famous ukiyo-e by Hiroshige Utagawa. Meet at JR Okitsu Station and start walking!
12:10 Reach at the top of Satta Pass (The view from here is breathtaking!) This place was drawn as a famous ukiyo-e in the 19th century. Please enjoy the scenery that has not changed much since then.
13:10 Arrive at the Yui Fishing Port and enjoy your fresh seafood lunch at your own expense. Cherry shrimp can only be caught in the Suruga Bay of Shizuoka area and is highly recommended. Very fresh and delicious!
14:30 Arrive at Tokaido Hiroshige Museum of Art and learn more about the landscape ukiyo-e of Tokaido where used to be the main highway from Tokyo to Kyoto in the 19th century.
15:20 Leave for JR Yui Station (approx. 30 mins walk)
