South Korea is very well known for having one of the toughest neighboring countries to deal with - North Korea. Since the end of the Korean War in 1953, the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) has remained one of the most heavily guarded areas in the world. It also happens to be right outside of Seoul. On this 9-hour day trip to the DMZ and JSA, you will have a chance to visit the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, Dora Observatory, Dorasan Station and explore the Unification Village.First meet up with your guide on the 7th floor of President Hotel at 8:30am. The first stop is the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, discovered on Oct 17, 1978 and located 52km from Seoul. It is estimated that about 30,000 soldiers could move through the tunnel per hour. Then move to Dora Observatory where North Korean military personnel are visible. Then stop by Dorasan Station, a railway station on the Gyeongui Line, the northernmost stop on South Korea’s railway line and the Unification Village.

In order to recuperate, lunch will be provided which typically is seasonal local food.

Hop back on the bus and now head over to the UN Camp Bonifas to get a briefing and prepare your tour to the Panmunjom - the only place where North and South Korean can come in contact on a daily basis. Please keep in mind that the Panmunjom is situated in the middle of the DMZ and the JSA, and while it was initially established as a meeting site between the North and the UNC, now it is being used for diplomatic purposes between the two Koreas. Due to JSA area being located in a very intense area of the world, be prepared to go through a uptight security checkpoints and your passport WILL BE required on the day of the tour.
