Dig up some Viking history during this 8-hour history tour in the picturesque Swedish countryside. Travel to Sigtuna, the oldest existing Swedish city and walk along its medieval cobblestone streets on the main street and feel like you are traveling back in time. Transportation from a central meeting point in Stockholm is included.Depart from the Central Station of Stockholm at 9:30am in a comfortable car, minivan or bus depending on the size of the group. Travel north into the picturesque Swedish countryside and feel how you start to move back in time. First, visit a reconstructed Viking farm where the farm-guide will tell you about Viking life at home. (Open April-October on Saturday; June-August on Wednesday)

Continue to a Viking parliament and feel the presence of ancient power, imagine the Viking men sitting in the parliament making mighty decisions. Head on to Jarlabankes bridge in Täby. Hear the intriguing tale about Jarlabanke, the great Viking lord who was a super-magnate. Learn about the Viking bridges and roads that tied Sweden and laid the foundation for the nation. Visit the grave field of Broby Bridge, one of the most interesting grave fields in Sweden. Hear the story about Estrid – the most famous Viking woman in the Stockholm region and learn about how the Vikings buried their dead and what happened to them in the afterlife.

By around noon, stop for a lunch (at own expense) in the town Vallentuna. A variety of foods ranging from Swedish, European, Mexican and Oriental specialties are available. If you just want something light, you have simple options available to you like a salad or sandwich.

Afterwards, head to Markim-Orkesta, two beautiful countryside parishes that have been nominated to become listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. See what the Orkesta (England) Runestone has to tell. Take a short-stop at a local farm and meet the Swedish family living on it to get to know their Viking horses - the Icelandic horses.

Journey on through time towards Sigtuna and have a stop at the Nordian Burial Mound, regarded as the biggest burial mound in the Stockholm county. The final stop of this epic Viking journey is the town of Sigtuna. Experience its history and enjoy your guide's passion for Sigtuna. Walk among the church ruins, the cobbled streets and take a 'fika' (in general, a 'coffee break'). Stroll along with your guide on a 60-minute walking tour before enjoying about 1-hour free time with your guide at your disposal. After Sitguna, return to central Stockholm.
