The Elephant Retirement Park has been established to create a heaven for retired elephants as well as the young ones. Formally the elephants work in building yards, and it is now illegal to use them for labor. This has drastically altered their function in Thai society. There is no riding of any kind at ERP.

The Elephant Retirement Park has been established to create a heaven for retired elephants as well as the young ones. Formally the elephants work in building yards, and it is now illegal to use them for labor. This has drastically altered their function in Thai society. There is no riding of any kind at ERP.This full day tour starts with a hotel pickup around 8.30am - 9am in Chiang Mai city area and head to the Elephant Retirement Park, it will take approximately 1-hour drive to get into the park, located in the Mae Tang Countryside.

Upon arrival, you will be provided some clothes to change and our staff will give you an introduction about the elephants we have at the park helping you get a better understanding of the Asian Elephants.

After introduction you will meet the elephants and feed them fresh fruit or sugar cane at the same time learning (medical care and day to day living) more about the Asian Elephant we have at Elephant Retirement Park.

Around 11:30am, an authentic Thai buffet with cut fresh fruits along with tea or coffee will be served to fill your hungry stomach.

In the afternoon, be ready to get wet and dirty. Elephants love and need to be washed and cooled down. Time to wash and brush the elephants down. You will have fun in our mud pool this is a great way to get really close to our elephant and enjoying play time.

You can take a shower and get change before heading back to your hotel around 5pm.

Please note that you are recommended to bring a small backpack, personal medicine, long or short pants, old clothes or swimwear (both if you are planning on getting muddy!), walking shoes, sandals, insect repellent and sunscreen.

Program Highlights: Brief introduction about African elephants and Asian elephants, make herbal medicines for elephants, feed elephants, lunch (authentic Thai buffet), wash, bathe, and mud bathe with elephants, apply herbal medicine to injured elephants.
