This small group tour covers some of Glasgow best known landmarks including Glasgow Cathedral, the River Clyde, the Old Town of Glasgow and the citiy's best museums and collections.

This tour is recommended for those who have limited time and want to get familiar with the story of Glasgow, its people, places and culture. Departing from George Street in Glasgow city center at 9am the tour starts by traveling the short distance from the current city center to Glasgow Cathedral which dates back to the 1100’s and is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the city. Just a short distance away is Provan’s Lordship Glasgow’s oldest private home - now a museum. From here the tour traces the early history of Glasgow as we travel south down the High Street into the heart of Old Glasgow passing the Tolbooth Steeple at Glasgow Cross and crossing the old Saltmarket before reaching the River Clyde.

This river was the main artery of this great city and one of the main reasons behind Glasgow’s development as a great industrial city. The next stop is Pollok Country Park, the largest park in the city and home to Pollok House and the Burrell Collection*. Pollok House is the ancestral home of the Maxwell and Jardine families and has been described as Scotland’s Downton Abbey! Here we will stop for an hour or so to allow time to visit the house, walk in the grounds or look for the herd of hairy Highland cattle. You also have the option to visit the Burrell Collection instead if you prefer.

This building houses the eclectic collection of shipping magnate William Burrell who gifted his collection to the city in 1944 and displays works of art from Rodin, Degas and Cézanne as well as over 8000 other works of art and artifacts collected by Burrell during his life. From here we make our way back towards the city center crossing the River Clyde once again where we will point out some of Glasgow’s recent new developments that have sprung up as part of the regeneration of the riverside and the city itself. The final part of the tour passes through Glasgow’s West End and University area.

This lively young part of the city is home to many students and some of the city’s finest bars and restaurants. We will make a short photo stop outside another of Glasgow’s magnificent museums, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, where guests have the option to leave the tour to view the galleries and make their own way back to the city center. If not, the tour continues back to George Street completing our loop of the city at 1pm
