Soak up the beauty of Glen Canyon as you enjoy a peaceful rafting trip down the Colorado River on this full-day tour from Sedona. Paddle over to a beach for a picnic lunch and discover Anasazi petroglyphs in cliffside pueblos. Before rafting, drive through the striking landscapes of the San Francisco Volcanic Field and the Painted Desert. Learn the history behind a trading post of the Navajo Nation, and purchase silver jewelry and Pueblo pottery as souvenirs of this unforgettable trip. After early morning pickup from your Sedona hotel, travel with your guide on a drive through northern Arizona and marvel at the dramatic landscapes en route to the Glen Canyon Dam. Pass through the San Francisco Volcanic Field, made up of 600 volcanoes along the southern section of the Colorado Plateau. Spanning 1,800 square miles (4,662 sq km), the field overlaps with Coconino and Kaibab national forests.

Snap memorable photos of the Painted Desert, located in the northern half of Petrified Forest National Park. This barren but beautiful desert scene of badland hills and buttes covers over 93,500 acres (37,838 hectares). The desert’s name comes from the varied pigmentation of the rocks, ranging in color from red to lavender to gray.

Visit the Trading Post founded in 1911 by the Navajo Nation of Cameron. The post’s proximity to the Grand Canyon turned it into a popular rest stop for travelers, and today, you’ll find a motel, a gallery of Navajo art, and a gift shop on the site.

Reach the base of the Glen Canyon Dam in the town of Page. Built to tame the mighty waters of the Colorado River, the dam created the nearby Lake Powell. Here, receive a safety briefing for your 4.5-hour raft cruise down placid waters.

During your easygoing rafting journey covering 15 miles (24 km), admire the beauty of Glen Canyon. Stop halfway for a picnic lunch (sandwich, snacks and fruit) on a riverside beach. Afterward, you have the option of enjoying a swimming break or taking a laid-back hike up a cliff to see ancient petroglyphs carved by the Anasazi, who had made these cliffs their homes.

Finish your rafting trip at Lees Ferry, the start of the Grand Canyon and a former ferry crossing and military outpost located in the Glen Canyon Recreation Area. Hop into your vehicle transport here and then relax during the drive back to your Sedona hotel.

Please note: This tour is seasonal and operates from May 1st to October 1st only.
