After port pickup from George Town, begin your tour by climbing aboard an open-air 4x4 Land Rover. Enjoy commentary from your knowledgeable local guide as you bump along paved and rugged terrain to top attractions on the eastern side of Grand Cayman Island.

Deluxe tour (5.5 hours)
At the beachside museum of Pedro St James, enter the 3-story former manor of a plantation owner restored to its 18th-century heyday. Also called ‘the castle,’ the building has survived fires and hurricanes, and has served as a courthouse, jail, parliament meeting house and restaurant. Walk along the verandas offering sweeping views, and listen to the tales of bad luck arising out of the alleged curses set upon the castle.

Inside nearby Pedro Theatre, you can vicariously experience the ordeals of the island’s early settlers during a 20-minute movie, a 3D presentation using creative lighting, vapor and wind. Pass by palm trees in the sculpted grounds, the sparking Caribbean just ahead, and take in a moment of silence before Hurricane Ivan Memorial.

Back in your safari vehicle, travel eastward to Botanic Garden, opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1994. Stroll through Floral Colour Garden, organized by color starting with pink, or walk Woodland Trail that cuts through the otherwise impenetrable forests, and come upon languid blue iguanas, spotted and striped butterflies, and fragrant orchids.

Pause every so often during the tour to snap shots of incredible vistas, and cruise along the rugged shore in search of blow holes. Waves made turbulent by easterly trade winds force water into underground caverns, the pressure of which propels geysers to shoot upward as high as 20 feet (6 meters). Because of timing and weather conditions, locating these blow holes on your own can be a touch-and-go process; luckily for you, your guide is familiar with these variables and can take you to the right spots at the right time.

Along the way, sample traditional snacks and tuck into a satisfying lunch made by locals that will leave you wanting more. After your sightseeing, you’ll be taken back to the cruise terminal.

Standard tour (3.5 hours)

If you have only the morning to explore Grand Cayman Island, make the most of it wandering through the wonders of Pedro St James museum and Botanic Park.  Absorb just the right amount of history, culture and nature before being transported back to port.
