Esterházy Palace, once a residence of great magnates and now a striking landmark at the heart of Burgenland’s capital Eisenstadt, is one of Austria’s most beautiful Baroque palaces. Today a museum, venue for cultural events and research centre, it houses the exceptional private collection of the Esterházy dynasty. Be inspired at the place where Lord Nelson listened to the music of Joseph Haydn and appreciate rooms that have stories to tell.

Fascinating women – moving stories

The Palace Tour shows the magnificent apartment of the Esterházy wives and provides a glimpse into the lives and worlds of three charismatic ladies: Maria Josefa Hermenegilda, née Princess Liechtenstein, passionate patroness of Joseph Haydn; Maria Theresia, née Princess von Thurn and Taxis, lionized beauty at the Congress of Vienna, and Lady Sarah Child-Villiers. Meet personalities from the past and discover the fascinating and moving stories of their loves, marital bliss and troubles.

The palace chapel and the Haydnhall – world-famous for its acoustics – are further highlights of this tour.
