Swim with the seals on this half-day cruise and snorkeling tour. We will take you on an adventure like no other, where you will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with these cheeky mammals! This once in a lifetime opportunity is perfect for all, so long as you know how to swim. No prior snorkeling experience is necessary, we will show you the ropes! This tour starts off at the store where we will fit you out with all of the equipment, teach you how to use it all, and give you all of the necessary training. We will then make our way to either Sorrento or Portsea Boat Ramp where we will meet our skipper. They'll then take us out on the boat to Popes Eye where you will have the opportunity to snorkel with some amazing sea creatures. Some of the creatures that are often sighted at Popes Eye are: cuttlefish, octopus, squid, starfish, sea urchins, colorful sea stars, sea squirts, ascidians, shrimp, seals, rays, southern sea garfish, rock cod and long-finned pike. After a half-hour of snorkeling, well assist you back on the boat.
Once everyone is back on board we make the short trip to the islet known as Chinaman's Hat. Chinaman's Hat is home to a colony of Australian Fur Seals and you'll have some time to jump back in the water and have a play with the seals before heading back to the pier.
The experience runs for around 3-4 hours and includes all equipment hire, a classroom session and boat costs.
Itinerary:
-Meet at the store in Rosebud West
-You will be given an informational session about snorkeling, including how to use your equipment, safety procedures and be given the chance to ask any questions
-Once your equipment has been fitted, you will make your way down to Portsea or Sorrento boat ramp to meet Neil, our skipper who will take you to Popes Eye with your snorkel guide/instructor
-Jump off the boat and into the water! snorkel for a half-hour at Popes Eye
-Jump back on the boat, and you'll be taken to Chinaman's Hat, where the seals live!
-Jump into the water again and swim with the cheeky seals!
-You will then be taken back to the boat ramp and the tour will end.
