Skippers Canyon photography tour is fantastic for all levels of photographers. A 4 hour tour that is teaming with landscape photography opportunities, beginner or advanced, this tour has it all. Accessed only by 4WD, Skippers Canyon is an area that is a must see for any photographer. You will not be disappointed with this amazing tour. You will be picked up from your Queenstown accommodation and driven to Skippers Canyon, which is about a 15 minute drive from CBD Queenstown. The canyon is accessed via the same road that services Coronet Peak Ski-field.

Entering the canyon from Coronet Peak road we travel over the Skippers Saddle where you will get your first taste of what Skippers has to offer. You will be greeted with a jaw dropping view down the canyon with Mt Aurum in the background.

We then travel the 22 km of Skippers Road, stopping at various points along the way to capture images. Stopping points are very flexible and if you see that "magic spot" more often than not we can stop to get the image you are looking for.

As you travel about a 3rd of the way in the canyon, the Shotover River will become visible, once the richest gold bearing river in the world. Many miners used to pan for gold along this river during the gold rush days of the 1800's. This river is a magical shade of turquoise blue and adds to any photograph of the area.

At the end of Skippers Road, you will cross the Skippers Suspension Bridge opened in 1901 and then visit the old Skippers School and homestead that was used in the 1800's and early 1900's.

It is at this point we stop for a tea or coffee and some biscuits and discover the history surrounding this magical area. We then turn around and drive the 22km back out of the canyon looking for changes in light from when we entered to photograph more amazing scenery.

The tour takes approximately 4 hours and you will be dropped back at your Queenstown accommodation on completion.
